The energy was electric on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the NPA Sports Ground in Surulere, as Micura Services Limited (MSL) battled the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in an intense Group A fixture of the Maritime Cup 2025. After a strong display in their opening match against ABTL, which ended in a 1–1 draw, the MSL team came into this game with determination and they delivered beautifully.

Both teams displayed excellent tactical discipline and resilience throughout the game. The first half saw multiple close chances for both sides, with NIWA’s midfield and attack showing good control and pressing, while Micura’s defense held firm. The breakthrough, however, came early in the second half, when Sunday Samuel, Micura’s midfielder, found the back of the net with a composed finish that sent the MSL supporters into wild celebrations.

As the game intensified, pressure from Micura forced an own goal from the NIWA defense, extending MSL’s lead to 2–0. NIWA responded late in the game when a controversial penalty was awarded after Micura defender Harrison received a second yellow card, reducing Micura to ten men. NIWA converted the penalty to make it 2–1, but it wasn’t enough to stop the MSL side from claiming all three points.

The energy in the stadium was unmatched filled with chants, horn blowing, cheering, and even prayers from passionate supporters on both sides. The MSL fans were especially vocal, rallying behind the team and celebrating every tackle, pass, and goal with pride.

Despite the late drama, the players held their composure and saw out the game with discipline and teamwork. With this victory, Micura Services Limited now sit third on the Group A table with four points, tied with ABTL, who hold second place currently on goal difference.

Micura’s next challenge comes tomorrow, Friday, November 14, 2025, as they take on Dangote at the NIS Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, by 12:00 PM. With morale high and momentum on our side, MSL will be looking to secure another crucial win as the team continues its impressive run in this year’s Maritime Cup.
