On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the 2025 Maritime Cup officially kicked off in style at the NIS Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. The tournament which is organised by Ships & Ports Communication Company gathered ten leading playing teams from Nigeria’s maritime industry, with spirited competition, high-energy opening ceremonies and the proud involvement of our very own Micura Services Limited, who boast status as official sponsors of this year’s event.
The atmosphere was electric from the start. Teams, supporters and officials poured into the stadium filled with colourful banners, drums and chants, indicating a testament to the tournament’s growing tradition. The organisers emphasised that the competition is about more than football; it’s also a platform for unity and industry-wide networking among maritime professionals.
In the opening showdown, defending champions Comet Shipping Agencies delivered an assertive performance, defeating Dangote Ports Operations 2–0. The win set the tone for a high-stakes tournament ahead. Goals from Stephen Okoli and Emeka Chocho sealed the result, and the match was met with applause for both the winners and the valiant opposition.
As official sponsors, Micura Services Limited were highly visible in the opening ceremony. Our branding adorned the field, and our team representatives joined officials and dignitaries on the podium. This year’s edition is contested by ten teams split into two groups:
Group A: Comet Shipping, Dangote Ports Operations, Apapa Bulk Terminal Limited (ABTL), Micura Services Limited, and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
Group B: Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA), ENL Consortium, LTT Coastal & Marine Services, and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
